Joseph Michael Pede Sr., age 73, of Oakland, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Joseph was born June 10, 1948 to the late Joseph August and Mary Pede in Bayonne, New Jersey. He was a Vietnam veteran while serving as Seabee in the Navy. Joseph played professional baseball with the Mets in 1966 to 1967 as a first baseman. After his baseball career Joseph went on to being a police officer for Bayonne New Jersey Police Department where he retired. He finished his career in the logistic industry.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Diane Spisak Pede, his children; Michael Pede (Alaina), Joseph Pede Jr. (Jennifer), and step son, Anthony Saginario and his life partner Alicia Alfonso, his grandchildren; Emma, Leanna, and Scott Pede and AJ and Ashley Saginario , his great grand daughter, Grace Elizabeth, his sister, Karen Treonze (Richie) , his niece; Lynette Doherty, his nephew, Richie Treonze Jr.
A visitation for Joseph will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 with a Catholic Service to be held at 3:30 to conclude the visitation. A committal service will occur Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 10:00 AM West Tennessee Veteran Cemetery (4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, TN 38125)
