

Katherine ("Kitty") Speer Causer, 90, born Oct. 27, 1920 passed away Wednesday, March 9. Katherine lived a rich life filled with love, always surrounded by family and friends. She graduated from Messick High School in 1938 and kept in touch with her classmates throughout her life. For 30 years, Katherine worked in the Office of Counsel and Executive Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers serving as executive secretary. Following her retirement in 1983, Katherine enjoyed frequent gatherings with her colleagues and friends.
Katherine spent the last half of her life caring for her family, friends and church community which were most important to her. She was an active and dedicated member of Rebecca Memorial Methodist Church and Raleigh United Methodist Church for 43 years. Remembered by her pastor as a "good and faithful servant," Katherine served on many committees at Raleigh United Methodist including official board member, Vice-President of United Methodist Women, representative of the Pastor Parish Relations board, finance committee and circle leader for many years. She also volunteered for many community projects including Meals on Wheels and Angel Tree for children.
A loving and caring person, Katherine touched the lives of all who knew her by her spirit of love, service and dedication. An inspiration and loved by many, Katherine will be missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Vicki Kellett Bartlett (Joe) of Bartlett and daughter Loretta Irvin of Memphis, sons Robert "Bob" Causer (Laura) of Phoenix, AZ and Ret. Col. U.S. Army, Dr. Wilburn R. Causer, Jr. "Bill" (Patricia "Pat") of El Paso, TX, grandchildren Scott Bartlett of Bartlett, TN, Kerri Bartlett of Nashville, TN, Ken Causer of Jefferson City, TN, Betsy Sandberg (Gary) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Chris Causer of El Paso, TX, Nathan Lucas and, Julie Causer of Albuquerque, NM, Kathy Vick (James) daughter Wendy and son Justin, Renee Lambert, and great-grandchildren Jon Causer and Sara Causer of Jefferson City, TN and three great great grandchildren.
The funeral will take place Monday at 2 p.m. with visitation Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway in Bartlett. Burial will take place at Forrest Hill East Cemetery on Whitten Rd. Online condolences may be made at www.memphisfuneralhome.net
