She was born on October 13, 1937 to the late Zach Leggett and Nora Chism. She was also preceded in death by her brother Mike Leggett and her beloved grandson, Ross Garrison.
Katie was a devoted and loving mother to her three children; Laura (Jonny) Cardelli, Ellen Everett and Daniel (Tamara) Jolly. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren; Carter (Ashley) Garrison, Ross (Danielle) Garrison, Grace Garrison, Knox (Maurie) Faulk, Maizey Queen, Ashton Jolly and Brielle Liles. She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister, Ann Hamm and her brother, Billy Lee (Donna) Chism.
Katie dedicated her life to raising her children then teaching school where she touched the lives of countless students. She was an avid dog lover and had a deep love of reading. She was strong in her faith and found comfort in her relationship with the Lord. Her family takes peace in knowing she will now dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Katie will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, February 23 from one o'clock in the afternoon until funeral services begin at two o'clock all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. Entombment will follow in Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
