Larry E McCalla

Larry Edwin McCalla,84, born in Memphis Tennessee September 11, 1940, mother(deceased) Ouida Baker McCalla and father (deceased) James Boyd McCalla. He graduated from Bolivar High School, after graduation he spent the next 2.5 years in the US Army. After being discharged from the US Army, he started to work for US Industries as a manager of the hosiery department.

On the weekends, he held a part-time position as Manager of Riverside Speedway. After the closing of Riverside, he worked his way as manager of Lakeland Speedway and Lakeland Amusement Park. After the closing of Lakeland Speedway, he went to Ft. Lauderdale Florida and worked as manager of the maintenance department of the Jolly Roger Hotel. As he felt secure in his own knowledge, he returned back to Tennessee and started his own business; Larry's Home Inspection Service, where he retired after 30 years of service.

He loved and cared about all his pets as if they were his own children, Dixie being his last fur kid who added a lot of joy to his most recent days.

Larry E. McCalla surviving siblings are; sister, Diane Gregory of Nashville Tennessee, sister, Carol Adams of Fritch Texas, brother, Charles W. McCalla of Readyville Tennessee, and Nancy McConnell of Cape Coral Florida, Cousin, Jenny Wren McCalla of Rosemark and Jon McCalla also of Rosemark Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be sent to the Parkinson's Foundation.

A visitation for Larry will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. His funeral service will begin Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 3:00 PM, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. The graveside services will occur Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 4761 Brunswick Rd, Arlington, TN 38002.
