On June 24, 2020, Linda Blabey stepped into Glory where she at last met her Savior, Jesus Christ face to face. She is reunited once and for all with family and friends gone before her. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher, and friend to many. Those of us left behind both celebrate her victory and mourn our own loss.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gerard Blabey, and by her parents Jimmie Paul and Rachel Merle Keck. She is survived by a wealth of family members including her siblings Daniel Keck, Sr.(Mary), Janice Miller, Charles Keck(Kathy), and Connie Jones; her nieces and nephews: Rhonda Mallady (Wes), Daniel Keck Jr., Krysten Smith (Don), Kara Keck, Kelly Miller (Deb), and Mia Miller (Gabe). Linda also leaves behind her daughter Anita Marie Blabey and her son Timothy Eric Blabey (Connie) as well as her three grandsons Harrison, William, and Joshua.
Almost from the start Linda had a passion for teaching, and especially for teaching math. She both began and ended her career as a teacher with the Memphis City Schools; teaching first at Grandview Elementary and then later at Fairview Jr. High School. She also spent six years as a 5th grade teacher at Frayser Baptist School. Over her career she taught and influenced the lives of hundreds of young people.
Linda was a graduate of Frayser High School & Memphis State University where she received a Masters of Arts in Teaching. She loved watching her Memphis Tigers play ball…especially basketball.
She cherished her 3 grandsons above all else. She made up songs for each of them and sang to them often. She wrote them letters weekly. She wrote letters to all the children in the family over the years and brought much joy to others through them.
While she never willingly adopted a pet, she became the caretaker of many abandoned cats and dogs. She loved them deeply and cared for them compassionately.
She gave love freely and showed kindness to everyone. She was gentle. She never raised her voice. She was the epitome of love.
