Linda was born to Herschel “Doc” and Marjorie Thomas in Missouri in August of 1943. After graduating from high school, she relocated to Memphis, TN and began her career at the National Bank of Commerce. Linda formed many lifelong, cherished friendships at NBC. She reared two daughters in Memphis and was a loving, gracious, dedicated mother.
Upon retirement, she and husband Harold Jones, relocated to Mountain View, Arkansas, where they joined the church fellowship at Timbo Valley Assembly of God. Linda was a beloved children’s Sunday school teacher at Timbo Valley where she utilized her God given artistic talents to bring the gospel to life not only in Sunday school and church services but Easter and Christmas celebrations as well. Linda was a willing and dedicated volunteer at the church and within her community, where she touched many lives. She was very passionate concerning animal rescue and volunteered at the Stone County Humane Society in Mountain View as well as rescuing and adopting numerous pets herself.
Linda relocated to Millington, TN following the death of her husband, Harold, to be closer to family. She joined the fellowship of First Baptist Church Millington where she continued God’s service in children’s Sunday school and vacation bible school as well as volunteering in numerous church ministries. She continued in these endeavors until her health declined.
Linda is survived by her loving daughters, Kimberly (husband Brian) of Church Hill, TN and Kelly (husband Bill) of Bartlett, TN, grandchildren Will and Morgan of Bartlett, TN; Jerry Johnson of Olive Branch MS, father of her daughters; step-granddaughters Miranda (husband Cody) of Church Hill, TN and Chandra (husband Matt) of Church Hill, TN and 5 great grandchildren, Gavin, Jonah, Case, Delaney, and Gentry of Church Hill, TN; loving niece Julie (husband Turley) and many grand nephews; many lifelong friends.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Jones; her parents Herschel and Marjorie Thomas; sister Julia; beloved friend Rose; numerous pets and grand pets.
Linda was truly a kind and gentle lady with a generous, giving spirit. She loved all God’s creatures great and small, enjoyed riding horses, painting and various art projects, tending numerous flower beds and landscape features, and jigsaw puzzling. She often commented how blessed she had been in life. It is her family and friends that have been blessed to have our lives touched by this precious lady.
Family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday, April 9th at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Services will follow at 2:00pm.
