

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, her daughter, Cindy Marlar, 2 grandsons, Dennis Marlar, Jr. and Greg Marlar, and a sister, Leslie Ann Grimes. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryle Day and sons-in-law Terry Day and Dennis Marlar as well as 3 grandchildren (Janet Kincheloe, Lisa Wigginton, and Philip Day) and 10 great-grandchildren. Betsy also leaves 2 sisters (Barbara Jo Lee and Peggy Lewter) and a brother (John Harvey).
Betsy worked for and retired from the Memphis City Schools System. She was a faithful Christian for over 70 years. She was an active member of Gragg Ave., Stage Road, and Berclair churches of Christ. Betsy was loved by all who knew her, and she had a ready smile and words of encouragement for everyone. She was known for her servant heart and the numerous cards she sent to many, many, people over the years. She and Joe loved to visit with those who were sick or confined to home. Betsy, or Granny as she was known to her family, always wanted to help in any way needed. Her many deeds of kindness will not soon be forgotten. Betsy (Granny) will be truly missed by those who knew her, but Jesus has welcomed her home for eternity.
The family requests any donations in Betsy's name be sent to the West Tennessee Children's Home.
A gathering for family and friends will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 from 9:00 AM until funeral services start at 10:00 AM all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. Burial will follow in Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133.
