Mary T. “Tommye” Morton, 86, of Memphis, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015. She was a retired nurse having worked for the VA Hospital and Arlington Development Center, a member of the Ellendale Garden Club and Ellendale Baptist Church. Tommye was named after her mother’s only brother, Tom Dowell, of Cookeville, TN. She spent many happy times with her Uncle Tom and Aunt Estelle. Mrs. Morton was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Alfred Morton and is survived by a daughter, Carol Lea Morton of Memphis; two sisters, Helen (John) Phillips of Pleasant Hill, CA and Judy (Don) Bivens of Brentwood, TN; and brothers, Bob and Kenny Hill both of Cookeville, TN. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Holmes Hill. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 22 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N.
