He was born to the late Milton and Dorothy Armstrong, Sr. on March 22, 1943 in Memphis, Tennessee. Along with his parents, his stepfather, Richard Martz, preceded him in death. He graduated from Humes High School in 1961 and attended Memphis State. Milton served in the United States Army for 37 years before retiring. Milton Worked for Fischer Steel, F.L. Saino Manufacturing, and AJC Structural Detailing. He was the worshipful master of Desoto Lodge #299 F& AM. He served as the Worshipful Master in 1979 and again in 2010. Milton was also a member of the Penn Chapter 22, Eureka Council 6, and the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry.
Milton is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn Armstrong; his sons, Bill Armstrong (Lynn), Adam Armstrong (Mary); grandchildren, Brian Armstrong, Cooper Armstrong, Andrew Armstrong, Ali Turpin (John Ed), Katie Garrard (CJ), Nick Concklin; great-grandchildren, John Brooks Turpin, Lainey Turpin; his sister, Joyce Craig (Ed); and his brothers, Elbert Martz and Richard Martz (Wanda).
Memorials may be made to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Milton’s honor.
Family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, May 23 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Services will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 24 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Interment will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, TN 38125.
