Nell was born on May 13, 1932, in Stewart Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Ray, and her son, Jerry Ray of Cedar Grove, Tennessee.
Nell is survived by her daughters, Cathie Jennings of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Susan Bryan of Germantown, Tennessee; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, who will cherish her memory always.
Nell dedicated many years of her life to nursing at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. After retiring from her nursing career, she continued serving her community by driving a school bus for several years.
She loved camping, boating, water skiing, and traveling, and her adventurous spirit was matched only by her caring nature. Above all, Nell was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. Viewing will begin at 8:30 a.m., with visitation at 9:00 a.m. and services following at 10:00 a.m.
