

Paul “Peanut” Summers, 74, of Byhalia, MS passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015 at his residence. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp, Memphis Police Officer for 12 years, a family barber and retired from Whitco Chemical Company. Peanut was also a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Byhalia, loved to travel with his wife in their travel trailer, traveling to 46 of the Continental United States. He supported his children and grandchildren in all of the activities they participated in. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pauline Summers and a brother, Jimmy Summers. Peanut is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Perkins Summers; children, Paula McGuire (Darryl) of Obion, TN, Wendy Peppers (Robert) of Memphis and Wayne Summers (Liz) of Bartlett; six grandchildren, Courtney Peppers, Drake McGuire, Alex Peppers, Dalton McGuire, Caitlyn and Madelyn Summers; sister, Jewel Dempsey of Memphis; brothers, Tommy Summers of Somerville, Raymond Summers of Bartlett and Dale Summers of Southaven, MS. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2015, and a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to Fellowship Baptist Church-Byhalia, MS or to a charity of donor’s choice.
