On December 12, 1969, Ray married the love of his life, Priscilla Olds. They went on to have two children, Jason James and Jenny James (deceased).
After his retirement in 2011, Ray was able to devote time to his wife, son, grandchildren, and large extended family. He had a great love for classic cars, spaghetti westerns, working outdoors, talking to anyone with ears, and was rarely seen without his two best friends: a cup of coffee and a cigar.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Effie James. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Priscilla, and his son Jason (wife Rita). He leaves behind three grandchildren: Josephine, Vivienne, and Rowan.
A visitation for Ray will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by a funeral service from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
