Roger Dean Watson, age 77, of Ripley, Mississippi passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Roger was born January 23, 1945 to the late Guy and Alene Watson in Jackson, TN and he was raised in Trenton, TN. He was a member of Cordova Baptist Church. Roger was a retired electric troubleshooter for Memphis Light Gas & Water as well as Covington Electric and he was also in the National Guard. He loved to work on small engines, fish and take care of his dogs. Roger enjoyed watching Memphis Tiger basketball and the Memphis Grizzlies. Roger married Lynda in 1965 and they celebrated 55 years together.
He is survived by his son, Scott Watson and wife Kathi, his grandson, Justin McKenzie, granddaughter Kayla Maffei (Emile) great granddaughter, McKenzie Maffei, his sisters Guyrean Grimes and Jo Ann McClanahan.
Roger is preceded in death by his wife Lynda Marie Watson, his son, Kerry Lynn Watson and his sister Louise Wallsmith.
In lieu of flowers, the Watson family request that donations be made to a local animal shelter in his memory.
A visitation for Roger will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. A committal will be held in Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
