

RoseMarie Elaine White, age 81, of Arlington, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at home. She was born on March 23, 1944, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to the late Walter Fredrick Martens and Nancy Florence Fields.
RoseMarie's early life in Sioux Falls shaped her into the resilient woman she became. She pursued her passion for service and humanity at South Dakota State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Her time at SDSU was marked by incredible friendships that she carried throughout her life.
In 1967, RoseMarie married the love of her life, Lieutenant Colonel Walter Estes White Jr. As a devoted military spouse, RoseMarie embraced the nomadic lifestyle that came with Walter's service. Together, they created a loving home in various locations across the globe, including Texas, California, South Dakota, Florida, Ascension Island, and Grand Bahama. Her adaptability, strength, and unwavering support were instrumental throughout Walter's distinguished military career. She cultivated lasting friendships and embraced the unique cultures of each place they called home.
While raising her daughters, Nancy and Rebecca, RoseMarie also pursued her own interests and passions. RoseMarie was an avid gardener and notorious prankster. RoseMarie was a cherished member of Covenant United Methodist church. Her warm spirit and sense of humor touched the lives of many.
RoseMarie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and sister, and aunt. She cherished spending time with her family and created countless treasured memories. She will be deeply missed for her commitment to family and loving nature.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Lieutenant Colonel Walter Estes White Jr, who passed away on January 8, 2012. Additionally, her older brother, Willard, and a grandson, Ashton.
RoseMarie is survived by her daughters Nancy and Rebecca, two grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A memorial service to honor and remember RoseMarie will be held on Monday, April 28 at 2pm at Memphis Funeral Home located at 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133. RoseMarie will be buried with her beloved husband, Walter, at a future date in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC.
