Ruben Marshall Smith, Jr.

Ruben Marshall Smith, Jr. passed away on June 14, 2016. He was born in Winona, MS on December 29, 1929 to Ruby and Ruben Smith, Sr. Ruben's family was his passion which was evidenced by the abundance of love he showed them everyday. He also enjoyed studying the family's genealogy through the years. He met his wife, Bettie, on a blind date ("best day of his life"). They were married June 7, 1952 and shared 64 years of wedded bliss. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and an avid Ole Miss fan holding season tickets many years for football, basketball and baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Bettie, his sons Kenneth Mark Smith (Christy) and Bruce David Smith, his daughter Laura Kay Cornwell (George), his sister Virginia Malcuit, his brother-in-law, William Henson, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews and other loving extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ruby and Ruben Smith, Sr. and three sisters Frances Smith, Ruby Mae Henson and Madeline Bryars.

The family will recieve friends on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maples Memorial United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
