Shelia Faye Dodd

Sheila Faye Dodd passed away peacefully on April 29, 2023, at the age of 65. Shelia was born on February 11. 1958 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to Bobby Jack and Maxine Chilcutt. Sheila spent her formative years in Brownsville Tennessee. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Union University. Sheila furthered her education receiving her master’s degree from the University of Memphis and post graduate studies at Murray State University.

Sheila dedicated her life to the education of children. She was a special education teacher for 27 years. Shelia was a motivated life-long learner that enjoyed new challenges. She truly loved helping students succeed. She retired from Bartlett City Schools, 9th Grade Academy in 2020.

Shelia was always full of laughter. She rarely met a stranger and always made others feel welcome. She was creative, enjoyed crafting and designing. Shelia enjoyed painting and creating visual art. Shelia also loved traveling the country making memories with her family. She enjoyed the company of her family the most. Shelia loved decorating for the holidays for her family. Shelia’s bright smile and humor made our world a better place. Sheila was a devout Christian and an avid believer of her faith. She is preceded in death by her father, Bobby Jack Chilcutt, and brother’s Terry Lynn Chilcutt and Jerry Glenn Chilcutt, all from Brownsville, Tennessee. Sheila leaves to mourn her passing, husband Dwight E. Dodd, daughter, Rachel Taylor and her husband Matthew, son, Carter Dodd, mother Maxine Chilcutt, and a sister LaTonya Chilcutt.

The family will receive friends on Friday May 5, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a funeral service and committal Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at 10:00 am. All viewings and services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett TN 38133.
