

He was a loving husband, father, Poppy, brother, son, uncle and friend. He attended Kingsbury High School. Throughout his childhood he learned the auto body business at his uncles shop in downtown Memphis. In 1981, he began welding with the Dover elevators plant in Horn lake, MS. In 1983, he began installing elevators through the National Elevator industry Local 30 in Memphis. Over the course of his career he worked with Dover, Otis, and Armor to name a few. Some notable installations he was a part of were Morgan Keegan downtown, Lebonhuer Children’s Hospital, International Paper, Baptist East, and various other hospitals in West Tn. In 2008 he worked in Las Vegas through Mitsubishi Elevators on the third tower of the Panorama Towers. He was very proud to be a part of that job. When elevator jobs were slow, he always knew someone at a local auto body shop that gave him work.
In 1976, Stanley married Donna Sue Fowler, who loves him dearly. They have been married almost 44 years. They loved to attend Memphis Tigers football games with their kids and grandkids, as well as make their annual beach trip. He loved his family very much. He was always ready and willing to help anyone out with a home project, car repair or any other odd job.
He is preceded in death by his parents William Troy Day and Mary Sue Day and brother David Day.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Donna Day; 5 children: Ashley Watson, Abigail Ellis (Stephen), Austin Day (Kelly), Taylor Griffin (Dual), and Paris Day (adopted grandchild). He has 11 grandchildren with another on the way this summer; his siblings: Larry Day (Marianne) of Coldwater , Ms, Janice Page (Lewis) of Tupelo, Ms, and Vicki Tabor (Donnie) of Dacula, Ga, and countless nieces and nephews. He was loved by many friends from childhood days, elevator industry and many auto body shops throughout Memphis.
He will always be loved and missed by everyone who knew him.
His graveside service will be Tuesday April 21, 2020 at Memorial Gardens located on North Germantown pkwy.
Due to the current situation a memorial service will be held at a later time.
