

Virginia Tate Finley, age 83, passed away October 8, 2016. Mrs. Finley was the widow of the late Malcolm E. Finley, is survived by her only child, Deborah Craft and her brother Robert G. Tate of Chattanooga, TN. She leaves 5 grandchildren, Justin Craft, Cody Craft, Leslie Craft, Quinton Craft, and Cheyanne Craft; and 2 great grandchildren, Khylan Craft and Sammie B. Hill, Jr. The family will receive friends Monday, October 10 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Memphis Funeral Home on Germantown Parkway and a Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 4 P.M. at Grace Presbyterian Church where she was a long time member. Grace Presbyterian Church is located at 6671 Yale Rd in Bartlett, Tennessee. Rev. John Michael Krech, pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church will be officiating.
Mrs. Finley was born March 3, 1933 in Memphis, Tennessee and graduated from Treadwell High School Class of 1951. Following graduation, Mrs. Finley began what became a 39-year career with Home Federal Savings and Loan. Mrs. Finley was hired as a teller and then worked in almost every area within the association. In 1981, she was elected to the board of directors and was the first woman to serve on the board in the 100+ year history of the association. At that time, she was a Senior Vice-President and had formally served as treasurer before becoming Chief Financial Officer.
She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church where she served as treasurer, deacon, elder and other leadership roles throughout the years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and crossword puzzles. She lived for Jesus and her family and set a wonderful example for them to follow.
