Virginia was born on November 2, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee and passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 19, 2023. She was the daughter of Martha Tisdale Jones and Henry Jones, Jr. and the sister of Robert (Louise) Jones. Virginia passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Piercey, their two sons, Richard Piercey and Jon (Traci) Piercey, grandchildren Christy (Zachary) Smith, Matthew Piercey, Kayli Swinford, and her great grandchildren, Kinley Smith and Liam Smith.
Virginia will be remembered by her lifetime membership to her church, Coleman Avenue Church of Christ and local senior citizens center, Frayser-Raleigh Senior Center, along with her ultimate compassion, The University of Memphis Athletics. Virginia was a very warm-hearted and caring woman who always put others before herself. She adored all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee on Wednesday, July 26th, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The graveside service will be held at the same location immediately following visitation.
In honor of Mrs. Virginia, it is requested that everyone dress casual with blue or gray colors, in honor of her love for the University of Memphis.
