I started working for Walt when I was 18 years old.  It was in 1976 at the 100 North Main building, then on over to 361 N. Third street, wonderful man who loves his family and a little color left this world when he went home.  Thank you Walt, I will miss you.

Many fond memories of Mr. Agee at RELS.  He will be missed as a good friend and mentor.

Tommy and I have been friends since we were 13yrs old which provided me the privilege of growing up around Walter Harold Agee, or affectionately to me, Ol' Walter.  I have a tremendous amount of fond memories of Mr. Agee. 

He was a man of immeasurable patience because we tested it many times.  I've lost count as to how many vehicles were damaged, or destroyed completely, but one in particular stands out to me.  One of his prized possessions was a beautiful 1970 Mercury Cougar XR7 which was a real hotrod.  It was common for us to take that car out and, well, test its performance capabilities.  In a particularly demanding test the frame and suspension of the car failed to meet said test. And as I recall the car was totaled after that.  That was perhaps the closest we ever came to having him skin us alive, perhaps the only reason he didn't is because if the truth was known, he did some of the very same things as a young man.

I remember the first time he brought home a brand new Datsun 260z.  That was one of the fastest cars around and we were drooling over it.  Thankfully we were much too young to drive at the time, however Mr. Agee did take us out occasionally to blow it out a little bit.  One Saturday morning, he took us to his downtown office in the Z car.  Mr. Agee took the 2nd street exit ramp at about a gazillion miles per hour.  I am not sure who was impressed the most, me that the car could take a curve that fast, or Mr. Agee when he saw how big my eyes were!

On one occasion, Tommy and I were riding our motorcycles at a favorite track we had made in an open field near our neighborhood.  After several minutes of riding, we stopped and took a little break.  Tommy told me that he was actually grounded from his motorcycle, but his dad was out of town, and he just needed to be home before long.  At that exact moment, I noticed Mr. Agee was across the street, leaning against the hood of his car with his arms folded, and about to chew what was left of his cigar in half.  There is no telling how long he had been standing there.  Because Tommy had his back to his dad, he was not at all aware.  I still remember the look on Tommy's face when I said; you should probably turn around..

Like many fathers, Mr. Agee always told the really corny jokes.  I have no idea why this one stuck with me all of these years, perhaps because it was so bad, or because he laughed so hard at it.  (Truth be known, I have actually told the same one a few times as well.)  Forgive me, but I will also share it with you.  Mr. Agee asked if I knew how the Japanese car company Datsun got their name?  He explained that the new Japanese car company wanted a brand name and they contacted the most prestigious German Advertising company and explained they needed a great brand name.  The German advertising agency asked when they needed to have a new brand name ready and the Japanese said in two weeks.  Which prompted the German agency to say Dat  Soon?  Yeah, I know.  Very bad.

I have so many cherished memories of Ol' Walter, however my most treasured memory happened when he first moved onto Palomino in Brunswick TN.  He introduced me to one of his new neighbors as his other son.  He had no idea, or perhaps he did, how much I wished that were a literal truth.

Walter Harold Agee was/is one of the finest men I have ever known.  I am thankful that he is now at rest.

My sincere sympathy goes out to my neighbor....Susan Agree..and to her family...upon learning of  the death of her father..May he rest in sacred sleep.

Walter Agee was a loyal giver. He gave to all in Korea and in Vietnam. After his marine career, in business, he created almost unblemished service to the customer through his loyalty and his loyal employees. No compromise to all who worked for him giving their best. No rule. It was just right. All of us, customers, employees, friends or just casual contacts knew a genuine man, and were better because of it.

Walter Agee was a mentor for so many people in the real estate industry.  His honest character and trust in others was the mark of a great man.  His service to our Nation was appreciated by all who knew him because he continued thru his life an example of someone who loved his God, Family and Country.  Mr. Agee was taught by his great mother to love God and have respect for all mankind.  The love he had for his wife, Ms. Betty and his children was always shown to others by the way he treated other. Yes he had a love for everyone. He was a great leader of a great Service Company and we are all better people because of Mr. Agee and the people that made up the corporate office.  We
all will miss his BLACK coffee, cigar and his encouragement to do your job right and give the best service to everyone.  Everyone will miss "Mr. Agee"

I am honored to have known Walter Agee.  He was truly a blessing in our lives.  My most sincere condolences.

Walt Agee.  I first met this wonderful and thoughtful man around 1977,   He is the reason that I consider myslef successful.  He gave many opportunitys to me.  He served his country very well by being a MARINE.  He served in Viet Nam several times while others ran away.  He chose a second profession and provided a service to the citizens of Tennessee.
