Home in Bartlett with the Rev. Jimmy Towers, pastor of LifeWay Fellowship of Killeen

Viola White was born February 10, 1917 in rural Williamson County near Georgetown. She
was one of seven children born to Louis C. Peschel and Hattie Beyer Peschel. Viola was
baptized at Saint Peter American Lutheran Church in Walburg, educated at the Schwertner
and Dension schools and later lived in Granger as a young adult.
Viola married Worth B. White, Sr. on December 8, 1942 and enjoyed 43 years of marriage.
Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Nancy Dawn. During these 43 years they
farmed two farms, one at Bartlett and the other at Schwertner. Viola was an active school
volunteer and always served as room mother making those delicious treats. Her beautiful
smile was seen throughout the years being helpful to customers and friends in the Bartlett
area where she was also known as being an outstanding seamstress. Her favorite work
experience was the years spent at the Teinert Memorial Library with her deep love for
books. As assistant librarian, she had a huge heart helping all ages, but especially the
children and hosting summer reading programs. She retired in 2005 due to health reasons
and moved to The Rosewood Care Center in Killeen in December 2008. She was a 50 plus
year member of the First United Methodist Church in Bartlett and attended LifeWay
Fellowship with her family as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Worth B. White, Sr. in November 1986, stepson
Worth B. White, Jr. killed in war, three brothers Stanley, Calvin and Logan Peschel and two
sisters Wilma Klett Sagebiel and Irene Johle.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy Yeonopolus and husband Jim; grandson Jack Neal
Mather; granddaughter Angela Dawn Reese and husband Barry; step-granddaughter Kelley
Yeonopolus-Holman; great-grandson Braden Reese; brother Col. (Ret) Franklin D. Peschel
and wife Marjorie; sisters-in-law Margie B. Peschel, MD and Amanda Lea Peschel and
numerous nephews and nieces.
The family suggests any memorials be made in Viola's memory to The Teinert Memorial
Library in Bartlett or to the First United Methodist Church of Bartlett.
Family visitation will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the Goodnight
Funeral Home in Bartlett, preceding funeral services.
