Barbara Elaine Light

Barbara E. Light, 83, of East Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in East Peoria, Il, surrounded by her family. Born in Missouri, on April 7, 1942, she was the daughter of John and Lillian (Grant) Stanley. On September 26, 1975, she married Richard Light.

Surviving Barb is her husband, Richard; five children, Christine (Timm Geiger) Schauble, Tamara (James) Sidell, Theresa (Bruce) Chace, Amy (Rick) Daxenbichler, and Richard (Tiffany) Light II; eight grandchildren, Nicholas and Brooke Schauble, Ethan, Carson, and Logan Sidell, Anthony Moody, Bryer Stage, and Natalie Daxenbichler; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Arlene (Joe) Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Donald, Jerry, and John Stanley; and two sisters, Jean Lavine and Violet McArthur.

Barb worked for the United States Postal Service for many years and retired as Post Master of Yates City, IL in 2001. Barbara was the heart of her family and found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she welcomed everyone with warmth, kindness, and a home-cooked meal, always making sure no one ever left hungry or uncared for. She had a deep and steadfast faith in God and took great comfort in hearing His word, which guided her life and the love she shared with others. Her nurturing spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering love will be remembered always.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon.
