Our beautiful matriarch, Beverly (Engle) Chambers, 90, transitioned into God's glorious kingdom on April 23, 2025. She and our wonderful father left us well equipped to place our faith in God, and to look after one another.
She married Richard Chambers on January 15, 1955 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death, as did her parents, James and Fern (Harris) Engle; her brother, Jim; her sons-in-law, Henry "Bud" Livingston and Randy Routt; and her grandson, Tim Churchill.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Cindy (Jim) Churchill of Bartonville, IL; Randy Chambers of Peoria, IL; Wendy Connell of Pekin, IL; Lindy Routt of Morton, IL; Crystal (Jim) Swearingen of Hanna City, IL; and Kellie (Tim) Lester of Edwards, IL; and her beloved niece, Vonnie (Richard) Smith of Hickory Hills, IL; 25 grand children; 20 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
As a mother of six, mom was a homemaker first and foremost. She belonged to the St Boniface Women's Club, and the Mothers of Twins Club.
She supplemented the family income by waiting tables at the Top of the Twentieth restaurant, the Ivy Club and the Elks Club, all of Peoria, IL.
An avid bibliophile, she loved being surrounded by her books of all kinds, and all of their possibilities. She especially treasured her Lord of the Rings collection.
Our parents instilled a love of music in their family. As a percussionist in her youth, and a vocalist, mom sang at the Cathedral of St Mary, as well as St. Ann Catholic Church, both in Peoria, IL. She enjoyed a great variety of music, and particularly loved John Philip Sousa marches.
The family will celebrate Beverly at a visitation at St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria, IL on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. An additional visitation will take place from 10:00 am - 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, followed by the funeral mass, also at St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria, IL.
Beverly will be laid to rest with her beloved husband of 56 years beneath the Pine trees of St Patrick's Cemetery in Kickapoo, IL, following the funeral mass. Father Jeremy Freehill will officiate the ceremonies of the day.
The family will honor her by wearing pink and/or purple, and invite friends and family to do the same.
Donations in her honor may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church or to the organization of your choice. Peace be with you.
