Carolyn J Goad

Carolyn Joyce Stanley, of Peoria, passed away Sunday June 8, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Carolyn was born Oct 1, 1934, in Wilmington, NC to Louise (Justice) and Cecil Chandler Stanley. She married William George Goad at Trinity Methodist Church in Jacksonville, NC on Dec 10, 1954. William passed away Nov. 10, 2018 in Peoria, IL.

She is survived by one brother; Joseph Cecil Stanley (Pat) Loris, SC, two sons; William Andrew Goad (Debra) of Glasford, IL and David Michael Goad (M. Yvonne) of Polo, IL, one daughter; Patricia Louise Moss (Thomas) of Peoria, IL, three grandsons; William John Goad (Amanda) of Williamsburg, IA, James Michael Goad (Katlyn) of Glasford, IL, and August Thomas Moss of Chicago, IL, two granddaughters; Olivia Michelle Gilkey (Eugene) of Sterling, IL and Charlette Nicole Goad (Ryan) of Sterling, IL., nine great grandchildren: Harper Goad, Brooklyn, Brianna, Braxton, Brayden, and Brea Goad, Hazel and Magnolia Gilkey, and Brianna Moss. Two nephews, five great-nephews, one great-niece, and special friends Ron, Bonnie, Barb, and Brad.

Carolyn graduated from Jacksonville, NC high school and the Commercial School of Women’s College (UNC Greensboro) class of 1953. She was employed with Ozark Airlines for 17 years as a reservationist and ARS, USDA in Peoria, retiring in 1997. She then was employed at ICC in East Peoria for 11 years. Carolyn was an amazing Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother who was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and loved to be present to support them in all of their ventures. She could always be counted on for solid advice and honesty.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, her parents, and one brother, Jerry Lambert Stanley.

Graveside services will be held at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford, IL on Friday June 13, 2025 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in her name to the Peoria Zoo – specifically the Giraffe exhibit as it was her favorite.
