Dale M. Mason

Dale Melbourne Mason, 87, of East Peoria, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at The Loft Rehabilitation and Nursing in East Peoria. He was born on June 26, 1936 in Peoria, a son of Clarence Melburn Mason and Mary Vionne (Manning) Mason. Dale married Paula Gwen Wisher on August 6, 1955 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2019 in Peoria.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruby Powers; brother, Raymond Groves; and daughter, Melissa Ellen Mason.

Dale is survived by his four children, Sheila D. Griffin of West Peoria, Valerie G. (Ron) Ford of Peoria, Nora H. (Bob) Scaggs of Bath, and Matthew P. Mason of West Peoria; 13 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He worked for Peoria Public Schools District 150 for 37 years, last working as a roofer.

Dale was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Peoria, where he served as First Counselor twice over the years. He was also involved in the Boy Scouts of America for nearly 40 years and volunteered for over 20 years at Wildlife Prairie Park where he was a train conductor.

Dale's funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 2, 2023 at his church. Bishop James O. Hutson will officiate. His visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm also on Tuesday at the church. Burial will take place in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
