

David Joseph Thiery, 48, of Mapleton, Illinois passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at his residence. He was born on August 5, 1973, in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph and Madelyn (Zahler) Thiery. He married the love of his life, Amy Minton, on July 13, 1996, in Bartonville, Illinois.
David is survived by his wife, Amy; two children Charles and Michael Thiery; father Joseph Thiery and sister Kimberly Thiery of Parma, Ohio; his father and mother-in-law Henry and Debra Minton and his mother-in-law Betty Smith. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Greg Minton, Matthew (Jennifer) Fustin, and Drew (Alexis) Fustin. He leaves behind several aunts and uncles, his Aunt Marlette (Jim) Tanzosh, Aunt Linda Zahler, Uncle Edward (Denise) Thiery, and a close family friend, Aunt Mary Long. He was loved by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Madelyn (Zahler) Thiery; his father-in-law, Jerry Smith; his grandparents, Joseph and Lillian Zahler; and grandparents Frank and Albina Thiery. His aunts and uncles that preceded him include Harold Thiery, Dwayne Zahler, Wayne Zahler, and Marlyn Westcott.
He was a loving and supportive husband and father. His greatest joys were spent at baseball games, playing video games, wrestling, and laughing with his boys. He was a dedicated and caring son, brother, uncle, and cousin. Family friends have commented about how kind and caring he was. He was a self-professed nerd and computer geek. Everyone remembers his sense of humor, especially his nerdy dad jokes.
He was a software engineer at Horace Mann Insurance in Springfield for the past 18 years.
A visitation for David will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, 1203 W Garfield Ave, Bartonville, Illinois 61607, followed by a service at 4:00 PM. Cremation rites will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorials be directed to the family for a college fund for his sons.
