Dennis Wally K. Walraven

Peoria – Dennis K. “Wally” Walraven, 58, of Peoria, IL passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in the Seattle, WA area. Dennis was born January 12, 1957 in Peoria, IL to Kenneth and Dorothy (Lenz) Walraven. He married Jill Smith on December 28, 2011 in Peoria, IL.

Surviving is his wife Jill Walraven of Peoria, IL, his daughter Trisha Ann (Jeremy) Gatewood of Peoria, IL, his son Greggory Kenneth Walraven of Peoria, IL, step-son Chad (Heather) Reiter of Bartonville, IL, step-daughter Dana (Gary) Messick of Houston, TX, five grandchildren: Antonio, Renee, Nicholas, Averie, and Nolan, two brothers: Doug (Jo) Walraven of Anaheim Hills, CA, and Danny (Kathy) Walraven of Hanna City, IL, and his sister Cindy (Kenny) Dunn of Peoria, IL. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Niki Walraven.

Dennis was a traveling technician who retired from Komatsu in 2012 after 23 years of service. He was a member of the Bartonville American Legion Post 979 and the Greater Peoria Honor Flight where he was a chaperone on the May 2015 flight to Washington D.C.

Dennis’s hobbies included golfing, music, playing his guitar, traveling and seeing the country with his wife Jill, supporting our veterans, and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and his many friends. If you knew Dennis, then you knew he could fix anything. A certified master technician that loved the challenge of making, whatever it was, run right.

Services will be held at 10 am Monday, August 17, 2015 at the First Church of the Brethren of Peoria. Pastor Dana McNeil will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 – 7 pm Sunday at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Interment will be in Fondulac Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
