Dorothy was born on January 23, 1930, in Peoria, IL, to Frieda and Fred Reichert. She married the love of her life, Frank Bethel on Feb. 3, 1951, in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2016 in Peoria . Also, preceding her in death were her two sisters, Florence Morrison and Pauline Traub.
Surviving are her children, David (Kris) Bethel of Belvidere, IL, Robert (Shirley) Bethel of Peoria, and Michael (Karen) Bethel of Peoria; 6 grandchildren, Matthew (Shawn) Bethel of Phoenix, AZ, Stephen (Krista) Bethel of Mundelein, IL, Mark (Falynne) Bethel of Wauwatosa, WI, Sarah (Steve) Nelson of Peoria, Vincent Bethel of Peoria, and Marisa Bethel of Peoria; 7 great grandchildren, Jenz Bethel, Ava Nelson, Liam Bethel, Tate Nelson, Alexander Bethel, Monroe Bethel, and Marlo Bethel.
Dorothy graduated from Manual High School in 1948. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville. Dorothy enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling around the world. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy worked as a school librarian at Washington Gifted School in Peoria for over 25 years.

In honoring Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Davison-Fulton Funeral Home, 1203 West Garfield Avenue in Bartonville. A private burial will take place at Swan Lake Cemetery at a later date.
