George F. Roach III, 55, of Glasford, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at his residence. He was born on August 20, 1963 in Peoria, Illinois to George F. and Barbara (Hammer) Roach Jr. He married Dorothy Reese on July 13, 2015 in Peoria County, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are six children, George F. Roach IV of Peoria Heights, Illinois, Nicki Roach of East Peoria, Illinois, Haley (Jacody) Sackett of Glasford, Illinois, Luke Roach of Bartonville, Illinois, Joshua Wernsman of Glasford, Illinois and Brittany Wernsman of Glasford, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jordan and Jaedyn Sackett, Adrian Lela; eight siblings, Debbie Roach, James Roach, David Roach, Gwynn Guiliano, Barry Wright, Wendy Williamson, Jill Batterham and Jodi Roach-King; one uncle, Larry Hammer and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Tracey Wright and Richard Roach.
George worked in management at Caterpillar Inc. for 28 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Bartonville American Legion Post 979. He was a member of the Lancaster Masonic Lodge. George loved hunting, riding his motorcycle, camping and enjoying time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Miami Dolphin fan. George was also a member of the Hanna City Sportsman’s Club.
A celebration of life service will be at 7 pm on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Eagles Lodge at 1704 S. East Lane Peoria, Illinois. A visitation will be on Thursday from 3pm until 6pm at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation. Memorials may be given to Easter Seals.
