Helen Marie Alder

Helen Marie Alder, 97, of Peoria, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at her home. She was born on February 7, 1927 in Smithfield, a daughter of John Brooks and Ruth H. (Warfield) Brooks. Helen married Louis Alder in Oquawka. He preceded her in death on 2007 in Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Johnny Brackney; great-grandson, Tyler Gardner; brother-in-law, Bill Willis; and sister-in-law, Nancy Lampton.

Helen is survived by her two grandchildren, Chris (Jodie) Brackney of Peoria and Dawn (Joe) Behm of Peoria; two great-grandsons, Gage Brackney of Peoria and Cole Brackney of New York; one sister, Dorothy Willis of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.

She worked as a billing agent for Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville for 31 years, retiring in 1988.

Helen loved to take her grandkids and great-grandkids fishing and boating on the Mississippi River. Helen never passed up a chance to enjoy an "ice cold Budweiser Beer" with family and friends.

Helen's funeral service will be at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Her visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm also on Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
