

Born March 23, 1937 in Toulon Township, Stark County, Illinois to Raymond and Mayme (Page) Brady; he married Joyce Breedlove on November 9, 1958 in Glasford, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2000. He then married Connie McVey on October 19, 2002 in Farmington, Illinois. She survives of Mapleton.
Also surviving are his daughters, Michelle (Mike) Battefeld of Lewistown and LaVonne (Tim) Sammis of Peoria; six grandsons, Drew (Kate) Bailey, Heath (Kristen) Bailey, Ian (Tori) Bailey, Brady (Jessica) Sammis, Tal (Ashley) Sammis and Clay (Kari) Sammis; fourteen great grandchildren; and brother, K. Dean (Roberta) Brady. Additionally, surviving are Connie’s three daughters and grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, Gilbert and two sisters, SueAnn and Carol.
Herb was a US Airforce Veteran.
He retired in 1992 after 30 years of service from his career as an electrician at the plant formerly known as Sherex in Mapleton.
Herb served his community as a 20 year volunteer firefighter with the Timber-Hollis Fire Protection District and as a member of the Glasford Baptist Church.
He was a member of the River Valley Antique Association (RVAA) and was proud of his restored Allis-Chalmers tractors. He avidly enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping and bowling.
Herb was always glad to help anyone in need.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at the Glasford Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Pugh officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Maple Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to his church or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
