Herman Richard Phillips, 82, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on March 11, 2026, at 10:55 p.m. He was born February 28, 1944, at home in Enfield, Illinois, to Herman and Beulah (Rhein) Phillips. After this introduction, he will be remembered as Richard.
Richard married Linda Crook, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Desiree (Todd) Colvin; his son, Richard Phillips; and one grandson, Alex Colvin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kathy Jo Phillips.
Richard grew up on a farm and carried that farmer’s spirit throughout his life. He found joy in horses—owning them, trail riding, and taking part in horse shows with the kids.
In his younger days, he traveled a lot, and he also enjoyed bowling, gardening, and the simple pleasure of taking walks with his dogs and cats.
Richard worked for Ozark Airlines for over 20 years. He later served as a travel agent for several agencies, worked for Caterpillar, Inc., and retired from Dental Arts Laboratories. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bartonville.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Father Charles Klamut will officiate, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Everyone is invited to the luncheon following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers, to St. Anthony’s Building on Hope Capital Campaign.
