

John Andrew Picco, 88, of Peoria, Illinois died Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Heartland Care Center in Peoria. He was born June 29, 1923 in Norris, Illinois. He was the son of Marco and Mabel (Ladda) Picco. He married Ethel A. Stoneburner on June 15, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois.
She survives, along with two children, Ida (John Marquis) Picco of Bartonville, Illinois and John Marco (Kathy) Picco of Peoria, Illinois. Two grandchildren survive, John Andrew Picco and Stacy Picco-Horton. He has four great granddaughters, Raelee and Katlyn Picco and Jersey and Isabella Horton and one great great granddaughter. John has one sister, Katherine Gronewold of Farmington, Illinois surviving. He was preceded in death by one infant sister, one brother in law, Harold Gronewold, and his long time faithful friend and cat, Charlee.
John worked at WABCO in Peoria in Management for over 42 years, retiring on February 29, 1984. He was a Army Air Force veteran of WW II. He was a VFW Member in Bartonville, American Legion Post 140 Member in Farmington, Illinois, he was a board member of the W. D. Boyce Boy Scout Council in Peoria and was a former Scoutmaster and the Silver Beaver Award recipient. He was a member of the Young Republican Club and the WABCO Retirees Club. He had taught computers to senior citizens for the Illinois Eye Center and Senior Net at Bradley University. He was a member of the Madison Avenue United Methodist Church in Peoria and had taught Sunday School there for many years.
Funeral Services will be Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Craig Miller will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday, at the funeral chapel from 3-7 PM. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Madison Avenue United Methodist Church.
