

Peoria – Joseph Anthony “Joe” Cotten, 96, of Peoria, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 9, 1923 in Dunning, NE, son of Charles Burton and Grace Marie (Snyder) Cotten. He married Sue Harvill on December 29, 2001 in Bartonville, she survives.
Joe is also survived by his son, Joseph Anthony (Marsha) Cotten, Jr. of Peoria; step-daughter, Rosanna (Chuck) Krause of Bartonville; step-son, Lintz Briggs of Dallas, TX; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several brothers and sisters.
Joe was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Army under General Patton in the European Theatre. He worked as an electrician for Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville for many years. He was a member of the Limestone American Legion Post #979 in Bartonville. He loved to go to auctions, collecting guns, restoring guns and fixing about anything else he could get his hands on. He also enjoyed re-engineering all types of devices to make them work for him when he became disabled.
Joe’s graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Peoria. There will be no visitation. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
