

Loydd was born on September 25, 1936 to the late Cecil R. and Lorene (Blake) Thurman in Peoria, IL. He married Virginia Wylie on November 17, 1956 in Chicago, IL. They spent 48 years together until her passing on July 8, 2005.
He was a Pressman for Fleming and Potter/CameoColor. He retired in 1996 after 37 years there.
He was a member of ARRL and Graphic Arts International Union #458. Loydd loved his Diet Dr. Pepper. He also loved playing Zelda on his Nintendo. Above all, he loved being a husband, a dad, a grandpa, and a great grandpa.
Loydd is survived by his children, Linda (Norm) Bartlett, Loydd (Susan) Thurman, Jr., Debbie Martin, and April (David) Mitchell; his grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Bartlett, Bruce Bartlett, Tony (Andrea) Bartlett, Jennifer (Russ) Graham, Andy (Cassie) Thurman, Aaron Thurman, Jim (Jen) Martin, Kim (Buck) Martin, and Joni Mitchell; his great grandchildren, Kari, Kori, Joey, Lucas, Emily, Nathan, Emma, Jacob, Adalynn, Finn, Cole, Haley, Isabella, and Sophia; his sister, Betty Winkler; his sisters-in-law, Alma Kennedy and Dodie (Lyle) Smith; his brothers-in-law, Jim Wylie and Bert (Linda) Wylie; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents; his wife, Virginia; his son-in-law, Tim Martin; and his siblings, Anne Jackson, Clara Morrow, Lester Thurman, Eldon Thurman, and Bob Thurman, Sr.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel in Bartonville, with a Visitation two hours prior starting at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Brock Winkler will be officiating. Committal will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria, IL.
