Neal Lee McCaddon

Born June 10, 1938 in Peoria, IL to Willard L. and Bodona F. (Paris) McCaddon; he married Dolores Krause on September 6, 1958 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Theresa (Jim) Travis of Jackson, TN, Loretta McCaddon of Hopedale, IL, David (Stacy) McCaddon of Normal, IL, and Kevin (Lynn) McCaddon of Bartonville; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; his brother, Dean McCaddon of Missouri and his sisters, Carol (Jerry) Brockway of Morton and Pamela (Bob) Knott of Peoria.

Neal was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service from 1958 until 1969. He then became a fire fighter with the City of Peoria Fire Department in February, 1969 and he retired as Captain in January, 1994 after 25 years of service. He then became a Peoria County Sheriff’s Bailiff from 1996 to 2014.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bartonville, the International Retired Fire Fighters, Retired Fire Fighters Local #50 and an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council #4333 in Peoria.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, August 10th at St. Anthony Church with a Prayer Service at 7:15 pm.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday August 11th at St. Anthony Church with the Rev. David Heinz officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, St. Anthony’s Church or to Fire Fighters Local #50.
