Paul was an extraordinary man who was the cornerstone of his family and a true treasure to know. He was one of the best conversationalists who would share life experiences, provide prospective and wisdom along the way. He didn't know a stranger and would make you feel like a lifelong friend.
Paul was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and his great granddaughter. He loved to teach the grandchildren to drive his 1955 Chevy Bel Aire on the country roads when they were 10 & 12. He shared a passion for horseback riding with his family and friends. During his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, attending musical concerts and stock car races to watch his sons compete. You could always find him at the top of the bleachers cheering his boys on. He thoroughly enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He also loved attending his grandsons’ hockey and lacrosse games.
After 30 years of service, Paul retired from the Peoria Police Department. He received Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois. He is also a proud graduate from the FBI National Academy and served as a member of the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department Mounted Posse. During his career he spent many years as a Gun Range Master and enjoyed teaching others how to shoot a firearm. Paul was a member of the SWAT team, Tactical Unit, a K9 officer, and one of the first Bomb Squad members south of Chicago during his tenure on the police department. He also spent many years teaching Criminal Justice at Illinois Central College. Paul was a US Army Paratrooper. He was a true patriot and a hero.
