Sandra Kay Ridgely

Sandy was born May 13, 1944 in Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Caroline Endress Liescke, her husband William H. Ridgely, and one brother, Delbert Liescke.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Susan Ridgely of Bartonville, two grandchildren, Andrew Ridgely and Erin Ridgely, both of Peoria, along with many other much-loved extended family members.

Sandy worked as a hair stylist at Beetler's Beauty Salon in Peoria, and later opened her own salon at home, forming many close friendships with her co-workers and clients during that time.

She later changed careers and joined OSF St. Francis Medical Center as a housekeeper. Encouraged by her supervisors, Sandy continued her education and became certified as a respiratory therapist technician. In that role, she most loved taking care of children in OSF's Children's Hospital and had the opportunity to support patients being transported by Life Flight helicopter.

Sandy was passionate about her Catholic faith; she attended St. Anthony's Church in Bartonville and participated in Cursillo and several other spiritual retreats associated with the church. She was especially fond of St. Francis of Assisi, identifying with his love of animals and nature. She also loved the arts and expressed her creativity through drawing, painting and making crafts.

Sandy was truly a people person and her kindness and generosity will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched. Her family would like to thank the staff members at Farmington Village Nursing Home, John Evans Supportive Living Community, and Compassus and Vitas hospice services for the compassionate care they provided her in her last months.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2025 at Davison-Fulton Chapel in Bartonville. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka.
