

She was born on March 18, 1949, in Peoria, Illinois, to Edward and Kathryn (Gorman) Zipper. In 1977, she married Carl E. McCoy, who preceded her in death on January 21, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, David Zipper and Gary Zipper.
Susan is survived by her stepchildren, Melissa (Rodney) James of Texas, Heidi (Greg) Creamer of Texas, and Carl (Cindy) McCoy of Illinois; two sisters, Sharon Passmore of Bartonville and Jackie Meyer of Mississippi; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graduate of Manual High School, Class of 1967, Susan went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois State University and later obtained her Master’s Degree in Denton, Texas. Susan had a successful career in the banking industry, retiring as Vice President.
A passionate world traveler, Susan embraced life’s adventures and always welcomed family into her home with open arms, never missing an opportunity to spoil them. She was constantly seeking her next pursuit, whether it was adopting greyhounds or dedicating her time to volunteer work with CASA of the 10th Judicial Circuit of Peoria County.
Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to TAPS in her honor.
