Thomas "Tom" Franklin Owrey Jr.

Thomas Franklin "Tom" Owrey, Jr., 73, of Bartonville, passed away on Monday September 18, 2023 at his home. He was born on September 11, 1950 in Peoria, a son of Thomas Franklin Owrey, Sr. and Mildred Gay (Trotter) Owrey. Tom married Cheryl Underwood on April 1, 1972 in Bartonville. She survives.

Also surviving are his two daughters, Alison (Bill) Daymude of Bartonville and Angie (Derrick) Hopper of Mapleton; five grandchildren, Ashley and Avery Daymude, Stella, Sullivan, and Sinclaire Hopper; one sister, Barbara Scott of Mapleton; one sister-in-law, Cindy Wiebler of Elmwood; two nephews, Jim (Janey) Scott, Jr. and Tom Scott; and two nieces, Patty (Robbie) McMahill and Tiffany (Fred) Rogers.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Scott, Sr. and Scotty Wiebler.

He was a carpenter for George J. Rothan Co. in Peoria for 44 years, retiring in March 2012. He was very proud of the craftsmanship in their woodwork.

Tom was a member of the American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville. He loved bowling and golfing. You could often find him with his longtime friends who meant the world to him.

Tom's family has arranged a Celebration of Life Gathering for him Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville. Cremation has been entrusted to Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel.
