

Violet M. Johnson, 91, of Chillicothe, Illinois, died at 9:55 A.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at her residence. She was born on December 29,1919 in Smithville, Illinois. She was the daughter of John and Etta (Bunger) McElfresh. She married John P. Johnson on June 24, 1945 in Bartonville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2003 in Peoria, Illinois. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jacob and Junior McElfresh.
She is survived by one son Dwight (Ora) Johnson of Dunlap, Illinois, and one daughter, Marlene (Gerald) Riedlinger of Chillicothe, Illinois. She also has four grandchildren, Brian (Lucy) Forbes, Christian (Sherrill) Johnson, Joy Johnson, and John Phillips; one great-grandson survives, Christian Johnson.
She attended school in Smithville, Illinois and worked 12 years at Boss Glove Manufacturing in Peoria. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Bartonville and also a member of the Leisure Group. She enjoyed being with family especially her grandchildren and great-grandson at family gatherings. She enjoyed being outside and working in her flower garden.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, March 21, 2011 at the St John Lutheran Church in Bartonville. The Rev. Michael S. Jones will officiate. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM on Sunday at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel and 30 minutes prior services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.
