Ward "Leggs" Schermer, Jr.

He was born March 4, 1920 in Pekin to Ward and Mildred (Michael) Schermer. He married Norma Hostetter on August 11, 1940 in Oakwood, MO. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters: Jamie (Jim) Ragan of Peoria and Jenna Noe of Bartonville; four grandchildren: Jana (Jeff) Stevens of Bartonville, Jacy (Kent) Smith of Bartonville, Jaret (Sarah) Preston of Cary, NC, Skyler Noe of Bartonville; four great-grandchildren: Grace Stevens, Isabella Stevens, Tyler Smith, Hunter Smith; and two brothers: Ben (Linda) Schermer of Farmington and John (Evie) Schermer of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by one sister Dorothy Lovell and his parents.

Ward was a truck driver for many companies for 49 years and a member of the Teamsters Local #627 for over 50 years. He was a member of the Joseph Robbins Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of Second Baptist Church on Farmington Road in Peoria.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Rev. Paul Maitland will officiate. Visitation will be one half hour prior to services at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded.
