

William H. "Bill" Houlihan, 86, of Mapleton, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 3:55 p.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Born in Peoria, on September 4, 1939, he was the son of the late Richard and Virginia (Turner) Houlihan. Following school, Bill enlisted in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged on August 2, 1963. On February 5, 1972, he married Linda Dippold.
Surviving Bill is his wife, Linda Houlihan; three children, Richard (Marnie) Houlihan, Shelly (Paul) LeVasseur, and Jennifer (Bill) Hollis; 11 grandchildren, Ricky (Leah) Houlihan, Joey Houlihan, Heather Houlihan, Jessica (Cody) Ervin, Ben LeVasseur, Danielle LeVasseur, Rylie LeVasseur, Adeline Robison, Arion Robison, Shea Hollis, and Reid Hollis; four great-grandchildren, Faith, Lucy, Charlie, and Lucas, with two on the way; and a sister, Sue (Les) Gallipo. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Dick, Earl, Tom, Pat, and Tim Houlihan; and a sister, Patricia.
Bill and Linda owned and operated Houlihan and Associates working as interior contractors. He was a member of the Bartonville American Legion Post 979, the German-American Society of Peoria, served as past president of the Peoria Sportsman Club, served on the Pleasant Valley School Board for 16 years, and was a member of the Peoria Contractors Association and Home Builders Association. Aside from his many activities, he enjoyed golfing, playing bocce ball, going camping, and was an avid reader of westerns. Above all else, he cherished his time spent with his family.
Visitation will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
