She was born April 30, 1932 in rural Peoria County to Jacob and Mary (Gerrietts) Uphoff. She married Lester P. Sutton of Jan. 23, 1954 in Glasford. He passed away Nov. 20, 2016 in Peoria. She is also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Doris Riekena, and two brothers: Donald and baby William Uphoff.
Wilma was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Glasford, the Peoria Emblem Club, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She worked at Central Illinois Light Company in Peoria for 36 years retiring in 1990 as Assistant Corporate Secretary and Stock Transfer Agent. After retiring Wilma and Lester enjoyed 24 years wintering in the Texas Rio Grande Valley. She loved to fish in Minnesota, golf, and play cards with her friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Villas of Holly Brook Assisted Living for their care and compassion towards Wilma.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 5, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
Private family burial will be in St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery next to her husband.
