Dudley Wilson Young

Dudley Wilson Young, age 87 of Henry, VA passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a decline in health. Mr. Young was born on June 7, 1936 in Franklin County, VA to the late Curtis Wilson Young and the late Myrtle Young. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Young, Charlotte Holley, Iris Matthews, one niece, Sheri Carrico and one nephew, Michael Holley. Dudley proudly served in the U.S. Army where he was a security guard at the borders of Germany. He owned and operated Young’s Tire Service located in Henry, VA. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed auto racing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends “laughing and talking” Mr. Young is survived by one sister, Connie Philpott, two nieces, Judy Trent (Mike), Jackie Matthews, two nephews, John Philpott and Joshua Philpott. Two great nephews, Braeden Philpott and Jackson Philpott. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM in Henry Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. J.D. Harmon officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the Martinsville-Henry County, Veterans Honor Guard.
