Esther Marie Smith Hopkins, age 92, of Franklin Health and Rehab Center and formerly of Fieldale, died Saturday, May 17, 2014, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Spray, NC, October 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Earl Smith and Rosa Sigmon Smith. She was also preceded in death by a son Aubrey Franklin Hopkins and a great-grandson Timothy Murrell Lewis, Jr. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. Surviving are her daughter Marion Yvonne Hopkins Baker of Patrick Springs, two sons James Winfred Hopkins and Larry Ronald Hopkins of Martinsville, four grandchildren, Sherry Lynn Baker Lewis, Gary Wayne Baker, Kathy Ann Baker, Kimberly Lynn Hopkins, and two great-grandchildren, Caitlin Elizabeth Lewis and Alexander Van Baker. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be from 1 to 2 P.M.
