

Ferne Cannaday Sink, 82, of Ferrum, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount. She was born in Franklin County, January 26, 1931 to Stephen and Hattie Stone Cannaday. She retired from DuPont where she was employed for 28 years. She was a member of New Vision Baptist Church and was the last surviving granddaughter of Civil War Veteran, Elcanah I. Cannaday.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde William Sink; eight brothers, Roy, Charlie, Henry, Earl, Albert, Allen, Joseph and Leonard Cannaday; four sisters, Lalah Nolen, Mae McGuire, Ruth Thompson and Maude Hollandsworth and a granddaughter, Kathryn Lynn Sink.
Ferne is survived by one daughter, Carole Hodges and husband, Kerry of Ferrum; two sons, Ronald D. Sink and wife, Angela of Parkersburg, WV, Perry L. Sink and wife, Laura of Bassett; five grandchildren, William Spencer and wife, Amber, Christopher Sink, Karsey Ingram and husband, Neal, Brian Sink and George Sink; two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Lukas Spencer; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM at New Vision Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Reynolds and the Rev. J. D. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Henry Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at New Vision Baptist Church and other times at the residence.
