

He was born in Lunenburg County on November 16, 1925, the son of the late Alice Crowder Croslin and John Harrison Croslin Sr. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Lazelle Croslin.
A minister for 46 years, he was a member and associate pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Bassett. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II, a lifetime member of the NAACP, a former member of the Pulaski Rescue Squad, and a 33rd degree Mason of Pulaski Lodge #154.
Surviving are his wife, Sallie Canty Croslin of the home; children, John Rodenious Croslin (Shirley) of Chantilly, Artis Croslin (Dorothy) of Hampton, Aleasta D. Rainey (DeVoil) of Jessup, MD, Yyron M. Croslin (Teresa) of Mocksville, NC, Letorious D. Croslin of Springfield, Albert S. Canty of Martinsville, Christopher A. Canty of Bassett, Jeri E. Gough of Cumberland, MD, Rhona M. Crutchfield (Kevin) of Collinsville, Melissa C. Canty of Martinsville, Sarah D. Preston (James) of Collinsville; his sister, Iva C. Stalling of Newport News, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at noon on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, in the Bassett Chapel of Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home with the Rev. James Tinsley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow with full military rites on Wednesday, noon at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery in Lunenburg County.
