Mabel S. Martin

Mabel S. Martin, 81, of Fieldale passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born in Franklin County, October 27, 1934 to Melvin Jacob Sigmon and Edna Feazelle Sigmon, both deceased. She was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a son, William Raymond “Tex” Martin, two sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph W. Martin; two sons, Thomas Dean Boyd (Susie) and Richard Martin (Teresa); one step-daughter, Patricia McDorman; two sisters, Mae Naff and Gay Thomas; one step-brother, Charlie Sigmon; 7 grandchildren, Tanya Boyd Stultz, Helen Maria Martin, Jessica Lane Roop, Ashley Nicole Martin, Courtney Boyd Fain, Montana Dean Meeks and Cody Warren Martin; 9 great-grandchildren, Dalton Rea Blevins, Jacob Reid Stultz, Billi Dean Grindstaff, James Evan Roop, Vinnie Sue Harter, Jackson Lee Fain, Elsie Sophia Meeks, Abigail Rylee Stultz and Tanner Eli Stultz.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Noon at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with Pastor Tim Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:45 AM, prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Joshua Meeks, Steve Roop, Jeremy Stultz, Richard Martin, Wayne Martin, Cody Martin and Devyn Harter.

The family would like to thank the staff of Memorial Hospital of Martinsville for their many acts of kindness.
