Melvin Harlis Boyd, 76, of Henry, died Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 20, 1938 in Belcher Mountain, Floyd, VA to Luther E. Boyd and Myrtle S. Webble. He worked for Bassett Furniture Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lilian Boyd.
Surviving are his daughters, Linda Faye Boyd and Joyce A Reynolds both of Henry and Kristi L. Lawson of Martinsville, sisters, Vera M. Witt and husband, Doug of Bassett, Vada I. Dowling of Bassett, Eva Mize of Henry and Iver Flater and husband, Richard of Finksburg, MD and brother, Carlie A. Boyd and wife, Betty of Bassett, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
All services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made for his medical expenses to Carter Bank and Trust.
